UI/UX design project for material design music app with Adobe XD

In this project I aimed to design a music player for mobile phones using Google's principles of material design. The idea was to design an app that is intuitive, easy to use, and aesthetically pleasing to look at while maintaining the essential features of a music player. You can try out the app using the interactive prototype I made with Adobe XD. Just click on "GO" above.

Some of the key features are:

  • Flat, monochromatic icons that indicate their purpose through form

  • Contrasting colors to make the app accessible and easy to use

  • A sliding left side menu that can be accessed at all times to easily navigate to the app's different menus.

  • A yellow Plus symbol that serves as a way to unhide buttons and easily access several features from within the Now Playing screen

  • The ability to go to the artist or the album of the currently playing song

  • An interactive Album View and Artists View

  • An interactive Playlist System that can be accessed through the playlist icon at the bottom or by using they yellow Plus symbol

  • An interactive back button on every screen

  • The ability to exit pop-up menus by tapping outside of them

  • A settings screen with an interactive switch button for Gapless Playback
